To help ensure the safety of participants, spectators, and the surrounding community, the Albany Police Department will be actively monitoring the airspace during the America 250 events.
Maps identifying restricted, watch, and permissible flight areas have been made available to assist drone operators in planning a safe and lawful operations.
Drone operators are responsible for complying with all applicable FAA regulations, temporary flight restrictions (TFRs) and local event restrictions. A published "permissible flight" area does not exempt operators from any federal or state laws or other applicable flight limitations.
Drone activity detected within restricted areas or otherwise operating in violation of applicable laws or or restrictions may result in enforcement action. Depending on the circumstances, violations may lead to investigation, civil penalties, criminal charges, seizure of evidence where autorized by law, or referral to the Federal Aviation Administration and other appropriate agencies for further action.
Our goal is voluntary compliance through awareness and education. We encourage all drone operators to review the published guidance before flying and to help us ensure a safe and enjoyable celebration for everyone.
