Traffic Signal Replacement and Pedestrian Improvements Intersection of Palmer Avenue and Richbell Road, avoid the area.
Please be advised that construction activities associated with the replacement of the traffic signal at the intersection of Palmer Avenue and Richbell Road are expected to commence during the week of July 6th, 2026.
The scope of work includes replacement of the existing signal infrastructure with a new mast arm traffic signal, upgraded pedestrian curb ramps, high-visibility crosswalk striping, and pedestrian signal equipment.
Work will be performed by the Town’s contractor, Verde Electric. The project duration is anticipated to be 10 - 12 weeks, but is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen field conditions.
Temporary lane closures on Palmer Avenue and Richbell Road will be necessary to facilitate installation of the traffic signal poles and equipment. Two-way traffic will be maintained through the work zone by alternating travel lanes, when necessary. During peak travel times, motorists travelling through the work zone should expect minor delays.
The contractor will be responsible to maintain resident access to adjacent properties for the duration of the project. Temporary disruption of driveway access may be required while the new sidewalk sections and ramps are installed.
Please be mindful of any signage, barriers, construction equipment and workers while traveling on Palmer Avenue to ensure a safe environment for everyone. We apologize for any inconvenience the construction may cause and thank you for your patience. If you have any questions regarding the project, please contact the Engineering Department directly by phone at (914) 381-7835 or by email at [email protected].
