The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community. 
 
MONDAY, JUNE 22, 2026:
 
8:40 AM Officer Gonzalez-Alvarez investigated a vehicle burglary reported on Joaquin Murieta Ave. Reported losses included a wallet, electronics and personal items.
 
12:05 PM Community Service Officer (CSO) Lau responded to a commercial burglary reported near Mowry Ave & Cedar Blvd.
 
10:15 PM Officer Norvell investigated a commercial burglary reported on Newpark Mall Road. A cell phone and purse was taken from a storage locker.
 
TUESDAY, JUNE 23, 2026:
 
2:46 AM Officer Norvell investigated a vehicle burglary reported on Newpark Mall Road. Reported losses included various tools and equipment.
 
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 24, 2026:
 
2:03 PM Officer Johnson responded to a battery reported near Brittany Ave & Newark Blvd. A 57-year-old male was arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
3:32 PM Officer Benjamin conducted a security check near Ardenwood Blvd & Newark Blvd. A 24-year-old female was arrested for an outstanding warrant and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
4:44 PM Officer C. Torres responded to a report of a suspicious person climbing over a fence, near Mowry Ave & Cherry St. A 39-year-old male was arrested for theft, possession of narcotics, and an outstanding warrant.
 
THURSDAY, JUNE 25, 2026:
 
5:44 AM Officer Medina investigated a report of a suspicious vehicle near Newark Blvd & Ruschin Dr. The vehicle was later determined to be stolen and was returned to the owner.
 
6:02 AM Officer Johnson investigated a vehicle theft reported near Newark Blvd & Ruschin Dr. The vehicle was later recovered by a neighboring agency and returned to the owner.
 
8:00 AM Traffic Officer Frentescu investigated a hit and run incident reported near Jarvis Ave & Spruce St.
 
8:00 AM Officer Cervantes investigated a vehicle theft reported near Sunset Ave & Locus St. The vehicle was later recovered and returned to the owner.
 
9:44 AM Vehicle Abatement Officer Reyes towed a vehicle with expired registration in the area of Cherry St & Mowry Ave.
 
10:14 AM Community Service Officer Lau investigated a vehicle theft reported near Lido Blvd & Jarvis Ave.
 
12:08 PM Officer Piquette investigated the theft of a purse reported on Newpark Mall Road.
 
3:57 PM Officer Johnson investigated a parking violation reported near Cedar Blvd & Port Sailwood Dr and seized license plates with false registration.
 
 
FRIDAY, JUNE 26, 2026:
 
1:40 AM Officer Germano investigated a suspicious vehicle reported near Dairy Ave & Cherry St. The vehicle was identified as stolen and was later returned to the owner.
 
1:53 AM Officer Kim conducted a traffic stop near Newark Blvd & Mayhews Landing Road. A 32-year-old male was arrested for an outstanding warrant and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
2:14 AM Officer Heckman investigated a vehicle theft reported near Newark Blvd & Musick Ave. The vehicle was later recovered by a neighboring agency.
 
7:15 AM Officer Benjamin investigated a vehicle theft reported near Cherry St & Dairy Ave.
 
4:36 PM Traffic Officer Frentescu investigated a hit and run reported near Cedar Blvd & Moores Ave.
 
6:43 PM Officer Stevenson conducted a security check near Cedar Blvd & Thornton Ave, and observed a 43-year-old male was involved in a battery. He was arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
9:03 PM Officer Shaffer responded to a felony vehicle reported near Cedar Blvd & Mowry Ave. The vehicle was impounded and turned over to another agency.
 
10:08 PM Officer Shaffer conducted a pedestrian stop near Cedar Blvd & Joaquin Murieta Ave. A 48-year-old female was cited for an outstanding warrant.
 
SATURDAY, JUNE 27, 2026:
 
7:00 AM Officer Gonzalez-Alvarez conducted a pedestrian stop near Cedar Blvd & Balentine Dr. A 39-year-old male was arrested for violating a court order. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
7:44 AM Officer Lor investigated a vehicle theft reported on Mayhews Landing Road. The vehicle was later recovered by a neighboring agency and was returned to the owner.
 
3:39 PM Officer Taylor investigated a vehicle burglary reported near Balentine Dr & Mowry School Road. Reported losses included clothing, jewelry, and various personal possessions.
 
7:57 PM Officer Stevenson conducted a traffic stop near Cedar & Lake Blvds for a vehicle traveling at high speeds. A 40-year-old male was later arrested for possession of weapons, evading arrest, narcotics, and violating probation. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
11:51 PM Officer Lara responded to a disturbance reported on Joaquin Murieta Ave. A 36-year-old female was cited for possession of narcotics.
 
SUNDAY, JUNE 28, 2026:
 
3:47 AM Officer Shaffer conducted a pedestrian stop near Stevenson Blvd & Balentine Dr. A 33-year-old male was cited for being under the influence of a controlled substance.
 
11:48 AM Officer Lomeli responded to a collision between a bicycle and a vehicle reported near Cherry St & Mowry Ave.
 
12:15 PM Officer Gonzalez-Alvarez investigated a hit and run incident reported near Stevenson Blvd & Parada Dr.
 
3:38 PM Officer Taylor investigated a package theft reported near Seawind Way & Hickory St.
 
11:13 PM Officer Shaffer investigated the brandishing of a weapon reported near Cedar Ct & Cedar Blvd. A 19-year-old male was arrested for aggravated assault and attempting to evade arrest. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
