National Night Out Block Registrations are Now Open!

Individual Block Event Registration is Now Open for National Night Out.

National Night Out (NNO) is on Tuesday, August 4, 2026. If you plan on hosting a National Night Out event and you'd like to have a police officer stop by to visit, please register your event here: https://www.cityofsanmateo.org/1781/National-Night-Out. Officers will be scheduled multiple stops during 6-9pm, and can stop by for quick informal visits.

This is a great opportunity for all of our Neighborhood Watch blocks to get together and visit, catch up, and ensure you know your neighbors. NNO is intended to be "America's Night Out Against Crime" and by participating, you'll show criminals that San Mateo looks out for one another.

Something as simple as an ice cream social in a driveway or backyard BBQ are great ways to encourage participation amongst your neighbors. Meet each other, get to know one another, all in the name of safety. When we know the ebb and flow of our neighborhoods, it's easier to tell when something is askew. That's why we encourage fellowship amongst residents. Because "if you see something", we want you to "say something". And there's no better reason to get together than annually on National Night Out.

You do not have to be a Neighborhood Watch block to host or register an event. Annually, we visit between 30-60 events and share the list with the Fire Department so they can make stops as well. You are free to host your event during anytime frame on NNO, but police visits will be limited from 6-9pm. The registration window is now open, but will close at 5pm on July 17, 2026.

For questions, email [email protected].

For those who do not have a block event to attend, but still want to participate in NNO, we will be hosting our annual free public event at the King Center from 5:30-8pm.
