At 444 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking an area of strong thunderstorms extending from near Broadview to 9 miles northeast of Elida, moving east at 25 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and penny size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Clovis, Portales, Melrose, Elida, Dora, Grady, Ranchvale, Saint Vrain, Cannon Air Force Base and Oasis State Park. This includes Highway 60 between Mile Markers 354 and 395.

Monitor the weather situation closely and be alert for threatening weather conditions. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. Blowing dust associated with strong thunderstorm winds can reduce visibility below one quarter mile at times.
