FIREWORKS ADVISORY
As we celebrate Independence Day this weekend, the Haledon Police Department reminds all residents that illegal fireworks will not be tolerated.
In addition to Title 21 penalties under New Jersey Law, illegal fireworks are subject to confiscation, and violators may face fines, arrest, and criminal charges, including N.J.S. 2C:33-2b(2) – Disorderly Conduct (creating a hazardous condition which serves no legitimate purpose).
Remember: In New Jersey, fireworks that explode, leave the ground, or travel through the air are generally prohibited for consumer use. Only certain ground-based sparkling devices and novelties are permitted by law.
Illegal fireworks can:
• Pose a fire hazard
• Cause serious injuries
• Damage homes and property
• Disturb neighborhoods
• Frighten pets and wildlife
• Create unnecessary risks for first responders
We encourage everyone to celebrate responsibly and help keep our community safe.
Let's work together to ensure everyone enjoys a safe, respectful, and happy holiday weekend.
