Holiday road closures, parking restrictions, and limited travel plan on Saturday, July 4 

Residents are reminded that the Hoboken Police Department (HPD) and Office of Emergency Management (OEM) will implement a limited travel access plan, which includes restricting entrance to the City to authorized vehicles only, closing certain roadways, and implementing no-parking zones. Authorized vehicles include residents, business owners and those traveling to work within the city, emergency personnel, transit and ride share vehicles, and those with proof of reserved parking in municipal garages. Unauthorized vehicles will be turned away.

The window to reserve spots in municipal garages has been extended through 11:59 p.m. tonight, Friday, July 3, or until spaces sell out. Limited spots are still available, and can be reserved at: https://app.parkmobile.io/venues/downtown-hoboken/events/300810

Residents leaving Hoboken on the holiday, or visitors coming into the City to attend holiday events, are strongly encouraged to choose alternatives to driving by using bike share and public transportation, including PATHNJ Transit,, and Light Rail. Be advised, New York Waterway ferry service is suspended to and from Hoboken on Saturday, July 4.

Prepare for extreme heat through the Holiday 

The National Weather Service (NWS) has extended the Extreme Heat Warning for Hoboken, through Saturday evening, with dangerously hot conditions expected, with a heat index value of 105 to 115 degrees.

Those planning to celebrate outdoors for extended periods on July 4, are urged to prepare for the dangerous heat and take extra precautions to protect themselves and loved ones by drinking plenty of water throughout the day, seeking shade or air-conditioning whenever possible, wearing lightweight and light-colored clothing, and using sunscreen. Watch for signs of heat related illness, including dizziness, fainting, nausea, and more, especially in children, the elderly, and those with chronic health issues.  

Municipal offices closed today, Friday, July 3 

In observance of Independence Day, municipal offices are closed today. 

Street cleaning is suspended today, July 3. Parking meters are in effect today, but are suspended tomorrow, July 4. All other parking regulations will remain in effect all weekend.  

Waste collection will occur as regularly scheduled.  

Hop shuttle service is suspended through the weekend and will resume regular service on Monday, July 6.
