Reminder: Consumer fireworks are banned in Westlake city limits. For more info
Ohio HB 172 allows consumer-grade (1.4G) fireworks on certain holidays but lets cities restrict them locally. Westlake City Council has banned discharging, igniting, or exploding 1.4G fireworks anywhere in city limits (Ordinance 1519.04). Sparklers, noisemakers, and small novelty smoke bombs are still allowed. Public exhibition fireworks (Class 1.3) require a City permit.
If you have pets: fireworks noise is one of the top triggers for pet anxiety and runaways. Keep pets indoors in a quiet room, confirm collar tags and microchip info are current, and consider white noise to mask the sound.
Skip personal fireworks and join us for Westlake’s own permitted display at Clague Park, July 4th at dusk (approx. 10 PM) instead.
