Deputies Identify and Arrest Man who Stole Fencing that Surrounds the City's Water Tower

SUSPECT(S): Eric Carletello, 50-year-old resident of Hesperia
VICTIM(S): City of Hesperia
SUMMARY: On Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at 01:00 pm, deputies from the Hesperia Police Department responded to the area of Ranchero Road and Maple Avenue, in Hesperia, for a report of a grand theft of the fencing that surrounds the city water tower. Through investigation, deputies determined the suspect arrived at the location a few nights prior, cut multiple pieces of chain link, rolled them up and stole them.
On Thursday, July 2, 2026, investigators identified the suspect as Eric Carletello, a 50 year-old male resident of Hesperia. A search warrant was served at his home in the city of Hesperia. Carletello was arrested for PC 487 – Grand Theft, PC 30305 – Felon in Possession of Ammunition, and HS 11377 – Possession of a Controlled Substance. Carletello was booked at the High Desert Detention Center.
