Severe Thunderstorm Effects: Power Outages, Downed Trees - Use Caution.

USE 9-1-1 AND NON-EMERGENCY LINE (908-272-2222) FOR TIME-SENSITIVE CALLS ONLY.  WE ARE AWARE OF NUMEROUS POWER OUTAGES, SO PLEASE RESERVE OUR 9-1-1 AND NON-EMERGENCY LINES FOR TIME-SENSITIVE MATTERS ONLY.

The Cranford Police Communications Center is currently receiving a higher-than-normal call volume due to storm damage being reported.  If this is NOT a life and safety emergency, please contact the non-emergency line at 908-272-2222 to report issues that require a measured response.  If you are reporting downed limbs that are not blocking roadways and are not associated with live power lines, please leave a message for the Cranford DPW on their hotline at 908-709-7217.

Due to an extreme thunderstorm experienced this evening, there are numerous downed trees, limbs, and live power lines. Cranford experienced a pop-up storm that included 60 MPH winds and torrential rain.  Currently, there is a severe thunderstorm warning that will conclude at 9:15 PM.On North Lehigh Avenue, downed high-tension power lines have caught on fire.  PSEG has been dispatched and is responding.  

The Cranford Department of Public Works and PSEG have been dispatched to respond to various calls of downed trees blocking roadways and downed power lines.

PLEASE BE ADVISED - THE ENTIRE COUNTY OF UNION IS EXPERIENCING POWER OUTAGES, AND ALL OUTAGES SHOULD BE REPORTED DIRECTLY TO PSEG.  For a view of the outage map with updates on power restoration, visit PSE&G NJ Outage Map
