Storm Recovery Update - Road Closures, Power Outages & Heat Safety

Following the strong thunderstorm that moved through Monroe Township and surrounding towns and counties late last evening, crews continue to respond to several downed trees, downed power lines, and roadway closures throughout the Township.

At this time, JCP&L is reporting that approximately 295 Monroe Township customers remain without electrical service. Utility crews are working around the clock throughout the region to restore power, make critical repairs, and address hazardous conditions as safely and quickly as possible.

Residents experiencing a power outage should report it directly to JCP&L at 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877). If you encounter an emergency or a life-threatening situation, dial 911 immediately.

With another day of extreme heat expected, residents who need a place to cool down are welcome to utilize the Monroe Township Police Department Lobby, which is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and is located at:

Monroe Township Police Department
3 Municipal Plaza
Monroe Township, NJ 08831

The following roadways are currently closed due to downed trees and/or power lines:

Dey Grove Road – Between Bergen Mills Road and the Manalapan Township border
Gravel Hill-Spotswood Road – Between Hoffman Station Road and Monroe Boulevard
Helmetta Road – Between Cherry Blossom Drive and Old Road
Spotswood-Englishtown Road – Between Mounts Mills Road and Rue Road
Union Hill Road – Between Englishtown Road and the Manalapan Township border

Please avoid these areas, use alternate routes whenever possible, drive cautiously, and obey all posted detours and directions from emergency personnel.

For your safety, always assume that any downed power line is energized. Stay well away from downed wires, trees or objects that may be in contact with power lines, and report hazardous conditions immediately by calling 911.

The Monroe Township Police Department, Office of Emergency Management, Department of Public Works, Fire Departments, EMS, and our utility partners appreciate your patience and cooperation as cleanup and restoration efforts continue. We will provide additional updates as necessary.
