Storm Recovery Update - Fireworks Cancelled, Road Reopenings & Power Restoration
Following the strong thunderstorm that impacted Monroe Township and surrounding towns and counties late Thursday evening, recovery efforts continue throughout the Township. Emergency crews remain actively responding to storm-related damage, including downed trees, damaged power lines, and roadway hazards.
Due to the continued storm recovery efforts, the threat of additional thunderstorms this evening, and out of an abundance of caution, today's Independence Day Celebration and fireworks display at Thompson Park have been cancelled. With utility restoration and emergency response operations still ongoing, it is important that police, fire, EMS, public works, and utility personnel remain available to respond to emergencies. While we understand this is disappointing, resident and responder safety must remain our highest priority. Township officials intend to reschedule the celebration, and additional information will be shared as soon as a new date is announced.
