As we celebrate this Independence Day, the Jamesburg Fire Department has a message for you.
As we celebrate this Independence Day, the Jamesburg Fire Department reminds everyone to celebrate safely and responsibly.
Due to the extremely dry conditions across New Jersey, the risk of brush and grass fires is significantly increased. Even legal fireworks, sparklers, and other open flames can quickly ignite dry vegetation and spread rapidly.
Please remember:
- Leave fireworks to the professionals and attend a public display whenever possible.
- Never use fireworks near dry grass, brush, or wooded areas.
- Keep a bucket of water or a garden hose nearby if using any legal novelty fireworks.
- Never leave fireworks unattended, and ensure they are completely extinguished before disposing of them.
- If you see smoke or fire, call 911 immediately.
By making smart choices, we can all help protect our families, neighbors, first responders, and our community. Have a safe and happy Fourth of July!
