Generator Safety During Power Outages
⚠️ Generator Safety During Power Outages ⚠️
If you're using a generator during the storm, operate it OUTSIDE ONLY and at least 20 feet from your home, garage, or any windows and doors. Never use a generator indoors or in enclosed spaces, including garages, basements, or porches.
Use battery-powered carbon monoxide detectors, and never connect a generator directly to your home's electrical system unless it has been properly installed with a transfer switch.
Stay safe and call 911 immediately if anyone experiences symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning, such as headache, dizziness, nausea, or confusion.
