The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office has arrested 4 individuals in connection to the Coligny Beach shooting incident that occurred shortly after 8:20 p.m. on the night of July 4, 2026.
Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received multiple calls regarding gunshots in the area of Coligny Beach on Hilton Head. Deputies working in the area responded to the scene as further information was being received.
7 people suffered from what appeared to be non-fatal gunshot wounds. The victims received medical attention at various area hospitals.
During the investigation it was determined that a fight between two individual groups occurred on the public beach. During the altercation shots were fired. Then subjects fled the scene.
Information was quickly gathered by responding deputies and relayed out to other responding deputies. Deputies were able to identify and detain involved parties. After further investigation the following 4 people were arrested.
Jayden Hawes (18) Attempted Murder, Possession of a Weapon During Violent Crime and Aggravated Breach Peace
Marcello Royal (17) Attempted Murder, Possession of a Weapon During Violent Crime, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, and Aggravated Breach Peace.
Quazeir Davis (17) Attempted Murder, Possession of a Weapon During Violent Crime, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, and Aggravated Breach Peace.
Christopher Capers (17) Accessory After the Fact
Multiple firearms were also recovered during this investigation.
This incident is still an active investigation, and further charges are pending the results of the investigation. Although the investigation is still ongoing, there is no ongoing threat to the public.
