*CORRECTION* Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide investigators are continuing their investigation into the shooting deaths of a female and male adults and the wounding of three additional people in the city of Compton. This incident occurred on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at approximately 11:20 PM.
Investigators have learned a large Fourth of July party was taking place on the 700 block of W. Laurel St., in the city of Compton when five people were struck by gunfire. A female Black adult and a male Black adult were both pronounced deceased at the scene (*it was originally reported the male was pronounced at a local hospital). After being pronounced at the scene, the male was transported due to the large crowd inside the location.
A female Black adult and female Black juvenile were transported to local area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. A male Black adult was transported to a local area hospital and is listed in critical condition.

NARRATIVE:
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide detectives are responding to the 700 block of W. Laurel St., in the city of Compton, regarding two shooting death investigations. The incident was reported on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at 11:20PM.
A female adult victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. A male adult victim was transported to a local area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
