Shortly after midnight, July 5, 2026, Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a call regarding a gunshot victim. Deputies responded to a residence in the area of White Sands Circle on St. Helena.
Upon Deputies arrival they found one adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was responsive and alert. Deputies assisted the victim until he was able to be transported by Beaufort County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) for treatment. His injuries appeared to be non-life threatening.
Deputies were able to arrest Stephanie Legree (55) without further incident. Legree was charged with Domestic Violence of a High and Aggravated Nature.
The investigation revealed that the shooting occurring during a domestic argument that occurred at the residence. A firearm was also recovered during this investigation, that is believed to be the one used by Legree to shoot the victim.
