Recently, Will County announced the launch of Smart911, a new alert system for emergency notifications and community updates across the county.
Starting July 2026, the Village of Shorewood will be switching to Smart911 for their emergency alert notifications. If you are currently signed up through Nixle Community Alerts through Everbridge, you will need to register with Smart 911 to continue receiving local alerts. Shorewood’s alerts through Nixle will not continue after July 31.
The new Smart911 alert system replaces the current Everbridge system utilized in Shorewood to send out public safety messages to registered residents via text, phone, email, or application alerts. In addition to traditional emergency notifications, the Village may also send out additional community alerts, such as road closures, public safety information, community event information, service disruptions, and other important local updates.
