Storm Update

Good evening, Morristown. Here's your evening storm recovery update.

As of 7:00 p.m., approximately 4% of Morristown remains without power, and we're encouraged that the number of outages has continued to decline throughout the day.

We remain in daily contact with our partners at the Morris County Office of Emergency Management and JCP&L. They have assured us that restoration efforts continue to be prioritized based on system needs, public safety, and the complexity of repairs. While some of the remaining work is especially challenging, we are seeing steady progress.

We recognize that this offers little comfort to those who are still without electricity, and we understand how difficult and frustrating these extended outages have been. Please know that the Town of Morristown and the Department of Public Safety are advocating on your behalf every day to ensure our community remains a priority until every customer has power restored and every roadway is reopened.

At this time, several roads remain closed due to storm damage, including:

  • Dogwood Road
  • Maccullough Avenue at Oak Street
  • Morris Avenue at Lafayette Avenue
  • Portions of Colles Avenue
  • Mount Airy Place

These closures will remain in effect until utility crews can safely complete repairs and our Department of Public Works can remove debris and restore safe travel.

I also want to recognize the outstanding work of our Police Department, Fire Department, Department of Public Works, and Emergency Management personnel. They have worked tirelessly over the past several days, often in difficult conditions, to keep our community safe and assist residents.

Finally, if you are still without power and need to charge your devices or use restroom facilities, Morristown Town Hall is available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Thank you for your continued patience, cooperation, and resilience as we work through the final stages of this recovery. We'll continue providing updates as conditions change. Stay safe, Morristown.
