City of Hoboken and Hoboken Police Department to host National Night Out on Aug. 4

The City of Hoboken and the Hoboken Police Department announce National Night Out will return to Hoboken in 2026 on Tuesday, Aug. 4 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

National Night Out is an annual community-building event that brings neighbors, community members, law enforcement, first responders, and public safety partners together to promote police-community partnerships and celebrate safety. The event will take place on the streets surrounding Church Square Park, located at Fifth and Garden Streets, and will feature a variety of family-friendly activities including public safety demonstrations, wellness booths, exhibits from partner agencies, giveaways, and complimentary snacks.

“Even before becoming Mayor, I looked forward to coming to, and bringing my kids to, National Night Out to meet our police officers, firefighters, EMTs, and all the public safety professionals who work every day to keep Hoboken safe,” said Mayor Emily B. Jabbour. “This event is a great reminder that public safety is built on strong relationships, and I encourage everyone to come out and celebrate the incredible sense of community that makes Hoboken such a special place to call home.”

Representatives from a variety of public safety agencies and community partners will be on hand, including the Hoboken Fire Department, Office of Emergency Management, Hoboken EMS and Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), Stevens Institute of Technology Police Department, NJ Transit Police, Port Authority Police, Hudson County Prosecutor's Office, and others.

“National Night Out is a favorite annual event for both the Police Department, and the community,” said Hoboken Police Chief Steven Aguiar. “The connections built at this fun and welcoming environment strengthen trust, and stronger trust helps create a safer community for everyone. We encourage residents of all ages to come out on August 4, meet your first responders, and have a great evening together.”

Activities and demonstrations will include:

  • Bounce house, water slide, and obstacle course
  • A “Jaws of Life” demonstration by the Hoboken Fire Department
  • Free shaved ice, hot dogs, and French fries
  • Music and family entertainment
  • A sensory friendly comfort and cooling zone
Local organizations and small businesses will also be in attendance to share information about community resources, services, and programs while offering activities and giveaways.

National Night Out is free and open to all. Residents of all ages are encouraged to attend, meet members of public safety agencies, connect with neighbors, and celebrate the Hoboken community.
