INCIDENT: Death Investigation
LOCATION: 27400 Block of Stratford Street, Highland
DECEDENT: Ignacio Ruiz, 33-year-old, Resident of Highland
SUMMARY: On Saturday, July 4, 2026, at about 9:51 p.m., deputies from the Highland Station responded to a residence for a male subject, identified as Ignacio Ruiz, who had shot himself. When deputies arrived, they found Ruiz unresponsive. Personnel from American Medical Response and the Highland Fire Department responded and initiated life saving measures. Ruiz was transported to St. Bernadine Medical Center and ultimately transferred to Loma Linda Medical Center for a higher level of care.
The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division responded and assumed the investigation. On Tuesday July 7, 2026, Medical Personnel pronounced Ruiz deceased. The investigation remains ongoing.
