King Tides Expected July 10 - July 16
Central Marin Police would like to remind residents and visitors that higher-than-normal "King Tides" are expected beginning Friday, July 10, and continuing through Thursday, July 16.
King Tides can result in unusually high water levels during high tide, leading to localized flooding in low-lying areas, roadways, parking lots, and along the shoreline. Conditions may change quickly, especially during peak high tides.
If you encounter flooded streets or standing water:
- Never drive through flooded roadways. Even shallow water can conceal hazards or cause your vehicle to stall.
- Turn around and use an alternate route if a roadway is flooded.
- Exercise caution when walking or bicycling near flooded areas, as surfaces may be slippery or unstable.
- Allow extra travel time if your commute includes low-lying or waterfront roads.
We encourage everyone to stay aware of changing conditions and use caution throughout the King Tide period. Your patience and attention to road closures or traffic advisories will help keep our community safe.
