Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., requests the public’s help identifying the individuals pictured below in connection with a robbery and a shooting on Saturday, April 4, 2026.
At approximately 4:06 a.m., the ShotSpotter detection system picked up gunfire in the 30 block of Empire Street. When Police Officers arrived, they located eight shell casings and talked to a victim, who reported that he had been assaulted and robbed, but was not struck by gunfire.
According to the victim, a man approached him while he was looking for his wallet and demanded that he give up whatever he had in his pockets. The victim refused to comply and ran away until he was attacked by several other individuals, who punched and kicked him. During the assault, someone took the victim’s key fob, and another individual pulled out a weapon, firing towards him and missing.
Director Miranda urges anyone with information on the individuals’ identity to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are confidential and could result in a reward.
