As part of ongoing efforts to improve public safety and combat violent crime, the Oakland Police Department (OPD) Ceasefire Section recently recovered multiple firearms and drugs.
On July 8, 2026, OPD Ceasefire officers observed an individual in East Oakland who had a felony warrant for weapons violations. The individual entered a vehicle and left the city of Oakland.
Ceasefire Officers, with the assistance of the California Highway Patrol (CHP) and the CHP Air Unit, conducted a vehicle enforcement stop near the city of Orinda. Two adults were detained without incident. During the detention of the two individuals, a firearm was observed in plain view inside the vehicle.
A search of the vehicle was conducted, during which five handguns, an AK-style pistol, and narcotics packaged for sale were recovered. Both adults were prohibited from possessing firearms and were placed under arrest for multiple felony offenses.
A follow-up search warrant was executed at a residence in East Oakland, where additional narcotics and money were recovered, and an additional adult was arrested for drug-related offenses.
OPD remains committed to proactive policing and will continue working to prevent violence and ensure the safety and well-being of the community.
