Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Homicide investigators continue to assist the El Monte Police Department with the investigation into a fatal stabbing.
The incident was reported on Friday, July 10, 2026, at approximately 1:00 p.m. in the 9700 block of Fern Street in El Monte. The location was originally reported as the 2600 block of North Potrero Avenue but has since been corrected.
Investigators have learned that the El Monte Police Department was notified by a local hospital after three stabbing victims arrived at the emergency department for treatment. The preliminary investigation indicates that an altercation occurred in the 9700 block of Fern Street, during which three individuals were stabbed.
Two adult male victims were listed in stable condition. A male juvenile succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Investigators are still working to determine whether more than one suspect was involved. Currently, there is no suspect description available.
