DATE: July 11, 2026 CASE NUMBER: 26-510291 INCIDENT TYPE: Traffic Crash Fatality OFFICER SUBMITTING RELEASE: Sgt. Del Fierro-Traffic Investigation Unit; Sgt. Carla Burr-PIO DETAILS: On Saturday, July 11, 2026, at approximately 10:12 p.m., Amarillo Police officers were dispatched to the area of St. Francis Avenue and Irwin Road on a report of a traffic crash. The preliminary investigation indicates that a Dodge pickup truck was traveling westbound on St. Francis Avenue when it struck the rear of a Toyota sedan. The impact caused the Toyota to leave the roadway. The Dodge continued westbound, left the roadway, and rolled multiple times. The driver of the Dodge was pronounced deceased at the scene. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The crash remains under investigation by the Amarillo Police Department Traffic Investigation Unit. Carla Burr-PIO DETAILS: On Sunday, July 12, 2026, at approximately 1:05 a.m., Amarillo Police officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of South Georgia Street on a report of a multi-vehicle traffic crash. The preliminary investigation indicates that a passenger car traveling northbound on South Georgia Street failed to stop for a red traffic signal at Southwest 15th Avenue. The vehicle struck an SUV and a pickup truck that were traveling westbound through the intersection. After the initial collisions, the car continued northbound before coming to a stop after striking another pickup truck in the 1200 block of South Georgia Street. A passenger in the car was pronounced deceased at the scene. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The crash remains under investigation by the Amarillo Police Department Traffic Investigation Unit. No additional information is available at this time.
