Excessive Heat Warning
After a afternoon heat index of 108 yesterday afternoon, overnight temperatures only cooled to 75 degrees in Ashland and Odanah earlier this morning. This may have broken the record maximum low of 73 degrees in 1954 by one degree!
Without a period to cool off at night the human body (and furry pets too!) accumulate heat stress, compounding the effects of the heat and humidity from one day to the next. It's not only the heat of afternoon that poses a threat, but the inability to take a cool break before a hot period the next day.
Monday's forecast high temperature is also in the 90s (and afternoon heat index above 100). Tuesday will be very simliar.
To protect your health during excessive heat, stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and avoid alcohol and caffeine. Additionally, stay indoors during the hottest parts of the day and use fans or air conditioning to keep cool.
