Red Woolfe Park Improvements Project
The Village of Decatur is excited to announce that the Red Woolfe Park Improvements Project is officially underway!
Thanks to a $307,300 grant award, along with a Village match of $204,893, Phase I of this project will bring significant improvements that will make Red Woolfe Park more accessible, welcoming, and enjoyable for residents and visitors alike.
Phase I improvements include:
New evergreen buffer along the south and west property lines
New ADA-accessible seating area with picnic tables
New ADA-accessible benches with companion seating
New ADA-accessible trash and recycling stations
New ADA-accessible kayak launch and gangway
Renovated ADA-accessible pathway connecting the parking lot to all park amenities
Renovated entrance drive and parking lot, including two ADA/van-accessible parking spaces
Expansion and renovation of the beach area further to the northwest
Looking ahead.. future phases of the project are proposed to include:
- Reconstruction of the restroom and concession building
- ADA-accessible splash pad
- ADA foot shower and drinking fountain
- Native habitat area
Unfortunately, for the safety of park visitors, Red Woolfe Park will be closed during construction through approximately October 30, 2026. We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding as these important improvements are completed.
These upgrades represent a major investment in one of our community's most treasured parks, and we can't wait to welcome everyone back to a safer, more accessible, and even more enjoyable Red Woolfe Park later this year. Stay tuned for construction updates and progress photos along the way!
