LOCATION: Cougar Crest Trail Head, North Shore Drive, Fawnskin

SUMMARY: On Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at approximately 3:47 p.m., an adult male parked his rental vehicle on North Shore Drive near the Cougar Crest Trail Head in order to take his wife and children hiking. When the family returned to their vehicle at approximately 4:40 p.m., they discovered the back rear passenger window was shattered and a purse and wallet were missing.
The victim checked their bank account and found multiple fraudulent transactions were made at ARCO, 7/11, Autozone in Big Bear Lake, and Easy's General Store in Sugarloaf. The items stolen from the vehicle totaled in value at $333.00 while the fraudulent charges totaled $175.83. Deputies obtained video surveillance footage of the suspect from 7/11 and Easy's General Store.
