News Release: Seeking the Public's Assistance to Identify a Violent Sexual Assault Suspect

On July 13, 2026, at around 1:30 am, Santa Clara Police Department (SCPD) Public Safety Dispatchers received a report of someone yelling for help from Carmichael Park located at 3445 Benton Street. SCPD officers responded to the area. As officers arrived on scene, an unknown male suspect fled on foot north from the park and was last seen jumping over the fence at an adjacent condominium complex on Benton Street. SCPD Officers located an adult female victim and determined that a sexual assault had occurred. Despite significant efforts at the scene, the suspect eluded arrest.

Investigators are asking residents and businesses in the area to review surveillance footage captured between 12:30 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. on July 13, 2026. Even footage that does not appear to show the assault itself may help investigators identify the suspect's movements before or after the incident.

Anyone who was in the area during that time, or who has surveillance footage or other information related to this incident, is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Ogg at 408-615-4823. Individuals may also provide information via the Anonymous Tip Line, 408-615-4TIP (4847).
