Deputies Negotiate Safe Release of Victim During Domestic Incident in the Community of Earp

DATE/TIME:  Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at approximately 2:54 a.m.

INCIDENT:  PC 236 - False Imprisonment

LOCATION: 156000 Block of Black Meadows Rd., Earp, CA

SUSPECT(S): Gary Dodd, 57-years-old, Resident of Chandler, AZ

VICTIM(S): CONFIDENTIAL


SUMMARY: On Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at approximately 2:54 a.m., deputies from the Colorado River Station / Needles Police Department responded to a call for service regarding a possible domestic disturbance near the 156000 block of Black Meadows Road in Earp, CA.  

Upon arrival, deputies learned the suspect, identified as Gary Dodd, had made several threats and refused to allow the victim to leave the residence. Deputies established a perimeter and made multiple attempts to communicate with Dodd.  After several attempts, a deputy on scene was able to successfully negotiate with Dodd, which ultimately lead to the victim's safe release from the residence.  Dodd eventually complied, exited the residence with the victim, and was taken into custody without further incident.

Following the investigation, Gary Dodd was subsequently arrested for PC 236 - False Imprisonment and transported to the High Desert Detention Center for booking. Dodd remains in the custody of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, on $30,000.00 bail, awaiting a court hearing.
