Currently the sky over our area has a hazy appearance, which is due to the Canadian Wildfires in Central Ontario. The smoke is not expected to be an issue until Wednesday 07/15 and Thursday 07/16. As we enter these days, the smoke will become a little more prevalent as the forecast for our area expects temperatures of 96-100 degrees with high humidity and North West winds of 10-20 miles per hour with gusts of 30 miles per hour expected.
While smoke and a slight odor in the area may be noticed, it is worth noting the air quality is not expected to be as poor as we experienced with the Canadian Wildfires in 2023. The fires in 2023 were located closer to our area in Quebec vs the current ones which are located in central Ontario.
Residents are advised to:
- Stay indoors whenever possible
- Leave doors and windows closed to your home
- Utilize the recirculate function on home and auto HVAC (if applicable)
- Limit strenous outdoor activity while smoke is in the area
