Riverside Man Arrested After Crashing into Apple Valley Home and Fleeing Scene
DATE/TIME: July 14, 2026, at 5:14 p.m.
INCIDENT: VC 20002(A) - Hit and Run
LOCATION: 15000 block of Apple Valley Road, Apple Valley
SUSPECT(S): David Whitman, 35-year-old, Resident of Riverside
SUMMARY: On Tuesday, July 14, 2026, deputies from the Apple Valley Station, along with personnel from American Medical Response and the Apple Valley Fire Protection District, responded to a residence in the 15000 block of Apple Valley Road following reports of a vehicle crashing into a home.
The driver, later identified as David Whitman, fled the scene on foot after the collision. With the assistance of Sheriff's Aviation Unit, deputies located Whitman near the intersection of Mandan Road and Tomahawk Road, where he was taken into custody without incident.
Whitman was transported to the High Desert Detention Center and booked for hit-and-run. He was later cited and released with a promise to appear in court at a later date.
No injuries were reported as a result of the incident. The Apple Valley Station would like to thank the Sheriff’s Aviation unit for their quick response and assistance during the incident.
