APD PACE officers located the suspect from this crash, Justin Shepherd, age 43 this afternoon. He was arrested for Collision Involving Death and booked in the Potter County Jail.  The investigation is ongoing.

The deceased in this crash has been identified as Eric Gilliam, age 41. His family has been notified. The investigation is ongoing.

***original release***On Sunday, July 12, 2026, at approximately 1:05 a.m., Amarillo Police officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of South Georgia Street on a report of a multi-vehicle traffic crash.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a passenger car traveling northbound on South Georgia Street failed to stop for a red traffic signal at Southwest 15th Avenue. The vehicle struck an SUV and a pickup truck that were traveling westbound through the intersection. After the initial collisions, the car continued northbound before coming to a stop after striking another pickup truck in the 1200 block of South Georgia Street.
A passenger in the car was pronounced deceased at the scene. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The crash remains under investigation by the Amarillo Police Department Traffic Investigation Unit.
