Good afternoon Residents,
I wanted to update you on the earlier alert of police activity. At approximately 7am, BSO Lauderdale by the Sea deputies were alerted of a suspicious person in the community just north of our village. As they were responding, the individual made his way south, into the village, via the intercoastal seawall. Alert Sea Ranch Lakes residents saw the subject and immediately contacted the Sea Ranch Lakes Police and BSO, and our officers saw the individual and gave chase. The subject was pursued south, out of the Village and into Lauderdale by the Sea (confirmed by witnesses and private CCTV). Police perimeters were set and K9 units, marine units and aviation units deployed to the area. Despite all efforts to locate the subject, he was able to evade capture. Several of our residents captured video of the individual during his flight and we will endeavor to use the images to identify the subject, and if successful, will prosecute him for trespassing.
I want to thank the alert Sea Ranch Lakes residents who contacted us and helped us ensure that this individual did not commit any crimes in our community and to the Broward Sheriff's Office for their quick response and efforts in trying to apprehend the subject.
With your assistance and vigilance, the Sea Ranch Lakes Police Department (and our neighbors, the Broward Sheriff's Office) will continue to make this one of the safest communities in Florida. Keep up the grea work!!
