The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has extended the Air Quality Action Day until midnight on Friday, July 17, due to Canadian wildfire smoke impacting the Hudson County area.
An Air Quality Action Day means that fine particulates in the air may approach or exceed unhealthy standards.
Poor air quality can cause headaches, chest pain, fatigue, and other health effects. Sensitive groups, including children, the elderly, and people suffering from asthma, heart disease, or other lung disease should take extra precautions, including limiting outdoor activity if possible.
Please note, tonight's Summer Fun Concert in the Park, Geri Fallo Presents Songs of Freedom, has been relocated to the Community Church of Hoboken at 600 Garden St. at 7 p.m.
The OEM will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as needed. Residents are encouraged to monitor local air quality at AirNow.gov.
