Bring your patience or avoid these areas.
Big Boy No. 4014 will be arrive in Dwight somewhere around 1pm Friday July 17th.
Expect heavy traffic congestion and stopped vehicles on Route 53, Route66 and other area roads along the Union Pacific Railroad through Grundy County from Godley, through Braceville and Gardner on down to Dwight for several hours.
If you're going to try to see this Historic Steam Lomotive, please keep these safety tips from their website in mind. Also note that the schedule is subject to change.
- Stay back at least 25 feet from all railroad tracks. This includes drones.
- Railroad tracks, trestles, yards and right of way are private property - do not trespass.
- Never assume tracks are abandoned or inactive - ALWAYS expect a train.
- Be a safe and considerate driver - do not pace the train.
- Be Aware of the Environment: While they strive to provide access to all guests, Big Boy is positioned in a working rail environment with uneven walking surfaces that may create difficulty for accessibility.
