Air Quality Update: Facility Closures and Program Changes for Friday, July 17
Due to poor air quality affecting our region, M-NCPPC, Department of Parks and Recreation in Prince George's County has temporarily closed select outdoor facilities and canceled or modified several programs and events for Friday, July 17 to help protect the health and safety of residents, visitors, participants, and employees.
Today's impacts include:
- All outdoor aquatic facilities and splash parks are closed.
- All athletic fields and artificial turf fields are closed.
- All golf courses and the Trap & Skeet Center are closed.
- "Screen on the Green" at Riversdale House Museum has been rescheduled to Friday, July 24.
- Wonderful World of Wizards at Watkins Regional Park will close at 3:00 p.m.
- Youth Safe Summer Soccer League games at Woodmore Town Centre Park and Walker Mill Regional Park are canceled.
- Summer Movie Night and Come Out and Play at Accokeek Neighborhood Park are canceled.
Residents are encouraged to limit prolonged outdoor activity, especially children, older adults, and individuals with asthma, heart disease, or other respiratory conditions.
The Department continues to closely monitor air quality conditions and will reopen facilities and resume normal operations as soon as conditions safely allow.
