As of Friday at noon, we have had 66 continuous hours of Hazardous air quality due to wildfire smoke, unprecendented here in recent history. A southwest breeze is forecast to bring this string of hazardous air quality hours to an end, with slightly better air mixing in for a few hours later this afternoon and evening.

More smoke is set to return at times on Saturday and Sunday. The air quality forecast for this weekend ranges from Unhealthy to Hazardous at times for the next several days, there may be better periods and worse periods, depending on the wind direction at any given time. Any smoke that moves into the area on Saturday will linger into Sunday. 

Next week is more uncertain. There is a chance of rain on Monday and the winds will shift around, but we'll have to wait to see how much smoke is moved around by those winds. Air quality will vary day-by-day based on how much the wildfires are growing and which way the wind is blowing.

This will be the last Nixle alert unless another period of hazardous air quality returns.

The two best websites/apps to keep an eye on the current AQI color from the monitoring site in Odanah are either the EPA Fire and Smoke Map or the Wisconsin Air Quality (Wisconsin AQM app) websites. Statewide forecasts can be found on the Wisconsin Air Quality website under the "Forecasts" menu.
