The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a flood watch for Hoboken today into early tomorrow morning, with flooding caused by excessive rainfall possible.
Heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected throughout the day. Forecasts are varied, ranging between .25 and up to 2-inches per hour, at peak, in certain areas. Low-lying areas in Hoboken can flood if the City experiences more than 0.8 inches of rain per hour. Damaging winds are also possible.
The City’s flood warning system is prepped in case gates need to be activated. Additionally, the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) has staged and will deploy barricades in flood-prone areas if needed. Avoid flood-prone intersections and never drive through flooded streets or around barricades. Do not move barricades or touch flood warning gates.
