PC 11370.1 - Possession of a Controlled Substance While Armed
LOCATION: Big Bear Boulevard / Paradise Way, Big Bear City
SUSPECT(S): Christopher Powell, 34-year-old male, Resident of Big Bear
VICTIM(S): State of California
SUMMARY: On Friday, July 17, 2026, at approximately 11:09 p.m. deputies from the Big Bear Sheriff’s Station conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Big Bear Boulevard and Paradise Way, on an electrical bicycle for violation of CVC 21213(b) – Riding a Class 3 Electric Bicycle Without a Helmet.
During the traffic stop, deputies located live .357 Magnum ammunition in a speed-loader, a loaded .357 Magnum revolver, suspected fentanyl, and unprescribed Xanax pills. During the investigation deputies determined Powell was a felon and prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition. Powell was arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition and possessing a controlled substance while armed. Powell was transported to the West Valley Detention Center for booking.
