Wilmington Police have arrested a man on gun and drug charges.
On July 14th at approximately 9:13 a.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division were in the area of West 7th and North Adams Street when they observed a male subject acting suspiciously. Officers attempted to make contact with the male subject, at which time he fled the area on foot and entered a residence in the 800 block of West 4th Street. A short time later, 18-year-old Keavon Bailey was taken into custody without further incident. Officers recovered 13 small bags of Heroin. Subsequently, officers executed a search warrant in the 800 block of West 4th Street and recovered a loaded .9mm handgun that was equipped with a “switch”.
Bailey has been charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited- Two Counts
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
- Resisting Arrest
- Possession of a Controlled Substance
He was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in $33,600 secured-bail.
