Wilmington Police have arrested two men in connection with a drug investigation.
On July 16 at approximately 9:55 a.m., members of the Drug, Organized Crime and Vice Division were in the area of 9th and Kirkwood Streets in response to community concerns around illegal drug activity. Investigators observed two subjects engaged in drug transactions, and made contact with both of them – recovering a total of 91 bags of heroin (approx. 2.73 grams), .5 grams of crack cocaine, and $487 in currency.
Police took 28-year-old Andre Thomas, who was wanted on multiple unrelated matters, and 54-year-old Abdul Mohammad of Chester, PA, into custody without incident.
Thomas has been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver, and was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas. He was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution pending further proceedings.
Mohammad has been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance in Tier 2 Quantity. He was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and was released on $2,500 unsecured bail.
