Strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to impact our area again this afternoon and evening, bringing heavy rains of 1-2” an hour, and winds of up to 60mph. Frequent lightning, localized flash flooding, and isolated tornadoes are also possible.
Residents are encouraged to take steps to prepare before the storm:
- Secure outdoor furniture, umbrellas, garbage cans, and other loose items.
- Charge cell phones and portable battery packs.
- Have flashlights available in case of power outages.
- Avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rain and thunderstorms.
- Never drive through flooded roadways—Turn Around, Don’t Drown.
If a Severe Thunderstorm Warning or Tornado Warning is issued, move indoors immediately and stay away from windows.
