Narrative:
On July 17th, 2026, Thousand Oaks Patrol Deputies were dispatched to the 200 block of North Moorpark Road in Thousand Oaks regarding a suspicious subject call. Upon their arrival, deputies contacted Juan Carlos Gonzalez Martinez while he was seated inside a vehicle. During the contact, deputies observed a firearm in plain view inside the vehicle. An investigation was initiated and Gonzalez Martinez was arrested for HS 11550(e) – Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance While in Possession of a Firearm, and HS 11378 – Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Sales. Thousand Oaks Deputies notified detectives assigned to the Thousand Oaks Directed Enforcement Unit (DEU) and Gun Violence Reduction Program (GVRP) of their arrest. DEU and GVRP responded to assist with the investigation.
As a result of the investigation, deputies seized approximately two ounces of methamphetamine, a large amount of U.S. currency, a fictitious driver's license, an unregistered firearm, and numerous rounds of ammunition. Deputies also recovered sales-related paraphernalia, including electronic scales and packaging materials, further indicating Gonzalez Martinez's involvement in the illegal sale of narcotics. Gonzalez Martinez was additionally arrested for HS 11370.1(a) – Possession of a Controlled Substance While Armed with a Firearm, PC 25850(a) – Carrying a Loaded Firearm in a Vehicle, PC 27545 – Unlawful Transfer of a Firearm, and PC 470(b) – Possession of a Forged Driver's License.
DEU is comprised of detectives, who focus on protecting East County communities by actively investigating illegal activities by conducting intelligence led policing with a focus on identifying and arresting prolific offenders.
