Narrative:
Citizens of Ojai and the Ojai Valley are invited to participate in National Night Out on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Libbey Park. This family-friendly event is a wonderful opportunity to meet your local law enforcement professionals and first responders, build relationships, and enjoy an evening with friends and neighbors.

National Night Out is an annual community-building and public safety event that promotes partnerships between law enforcement and the communities they serve. It is an opportunity to strengthen neighborhood connections, foster trust, share crime prevention and safety information, and bring community members together with the men and women dedicated to keeping the Ojai Valley safe.

Representatives from the Ojai Police Department, the Upper Ojai Search & Rescue Team, Sheriff's SWAT, the K-9 Unit, and Ojai Volunteers in Policing will be on hand to answer questions and showcase patrol vehicles, emergency equipment, and specialized resources. Our Kid and Adult Print Program will also be available during the event.

Whether you've lived in the Ojai Valley for decades or are new to the community, National Night Out is a great opportunity to connect with your local law enforcement officers, ask questions, and learn more about the many public safety services and resources available to our community.

Community members interested in learning more about the Upper Ojai Search & Rescue Team are encouraged to stop by their display. Their dedicated members volunteer countless hours assisting with search and rescue missions throughout our region and will be happy to answer questions about their mission and what it takes to become a volunteer.

The Ojai Police Department is grateful to the City of Ojai for its partnership in making this event possible. Thanks to the City's generosity, complimentary Kona Ice (Hawaiian shaved ice) will be available for attendees while supplies last.

Ojai Police Chief Tyler Abbott said:

"The relationships we build with our community are just as important as the work we do every day. National Night Out gives us the opportunity to slow down, visit with our neighbors, answer questions, and simply spend time together outside of an emergency. We hope you'll bring your family, stop by, and enjoy an evening with us at Libbey Park."
