INCIDENT: PC 422- Criminal Threats
LOCATION: Jack Smith Park, Needles, CA
SUSPECT(S): Buddy Horvath, 60-years-old, Resident of Needles, CA
VICTIM(S): Confidential
SUMMARY: On Tuesday, July 21, 2026, deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Colorado River Station/Needles Police Department responded to a reported disturbance near Jack Smith Park in Needles. During the investigation, deputies learned the suspect became upset after being disturbed by the sound of a baby crying. The suspect then threatened the victim and her child, causing the victim to fear for her safety and the safety of her child. The victim immediately left the area and contacted law enforcement from a safe location.
When deputies arrived on scene, they contacted the suspect, identified as Buddy Horvath, and observed that he remained irate and continued to yell during the investigation. Based on the investigation and statements obtained, Horvath was arrested on the above-mentioned charges and was transported to the Colorado River Station jail for booking. Horvath remains in custody of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department on $50,000.00 bail, awaiting a court hearing.
