Flash Flood Warning until 10:30PM

FFWRLX The National Weather Service in Charleston has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for... West Central Randolph County in northeastern West Virginia... Central Upshur County in northeastern West Virginia... East Central Lewis County in northern West Virginia...

* Until 1030 PM EDT.

* At 611 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen from earlier storms. Additional thunderstorms are moving into the area producing heavy rainfall. Additional amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Buckhannon, Tallmansville, Overhill, French Creek, Ellamore and Horner. Creeks and streams that may have receded within there banks are expected to rise out of their banks again.

* AFFECTED AREAS: LEWIS, WV ... RANDOLPH, WV ... UPSHUR, WV

Instructions:

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route. Report flooding to the National Weather Service by calling toll free, 800 401 9535, when you can do so safely.
