* At 935 PM EDT, Doppler radar and area rain gauges indicated between 2 and 3.5 inches of rain have fallen since late this afternoon. Flash flooding is ongoing. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Clarksburg, Buckhannon, Grafton, Weston, Philippi, Audra State Park, Bridgeport, Shinnston, Belington, Stonewood, Nutter Fort, Salem, Lumberport, West Union, Anmoore, Jackson Mill, Enterprise, West Milford, Junior and Lost Creek. This includes the following highways... Interstate 79 between mile markers 98 and 128. Route 33 near mile marker 1...and between mile markers 6 and 7...and near mile marker 15...and near mile marker 17. Route 50 in West Virginia between mile markers 45 and 82.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route. Report flooding to the National Weather Service by calling toll free, 800 401 9535, when you can do so safely.
