Wilmington Police arrest 13-year-old male for attempted murder following assault involving fireworks:
Wilmington Police have arrested a 13-year-old male juvenile on attempted murder and other charges following a serious assault involving fireworks.
Police have been investigating an assault that took place on July 3 at approximately 10:34 p.m. in the area of 9th and North Pine Streets. Investigators learned that two individuals – a 31-year-old male and a 53-year-old female – had been assaulted with fireworks, including a Roman candle, by multiple juveniles. The female victim was transported to the hospital and was treated and later released. The male victim was transported to the hospital and remains hospitalized in critical condition.
The case was assigned to Detective Ryan Kilmon of the WPD Criminal Investigations Division. Through the course of his investigation, Detective Kilmon identified a 13-year-old male as one of the suspects.
On July 21, police took the 13-year-old male into custody without incident in the 600 block of East 10th Street, and he has been charged with the following offenses:
- Attempted Murder (First Degree)
- Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony
- Conspiracy (First Degree)
